The Segway ST, an electric kickscooter, emerges as a response to the shifting transportation needs post-pandemic. With public transit usage declining, personal mobility devices are on the rise, offering a convenient solution for short to medium commutes. This electric scooter, popular in Europe and America, is not just a mode of transport but a statement of convenience and environmental consciousness.

What sets the Segway ST apart is its legal status as a mode of transport in various regions, coupled with its design that targets traffic reduction and promotes an eco-friendly commuting experience. Its unique properties lie in its ability to balance high-speed stability with a robust integrated bent pipe frame and dual shock absorbers, ensuring a smooth ride for urban adventurers.

The scooter's realization is a testament to technological advancement, boasting a top speed of 80 km/h and a range of 70 km on a single charge. Safety is paramount, with features like hydraulic disc brakes, a SMART-ABS braking system, and a traction control system that underscores the scooter's commitment to rider security.

Yongjie Li, alongside team members Ji Lin, Junfu Lin, and Huiqian Zhu, has meticulously crafted the Segway ST to cater to user demands for safety, stability, power, and style. The design process involved rigorous research, user interviews, and overcoming manufacturing challenges to achieve a lightweight yet rigid one-piece frame that ensures stability and a low center of gravity.

The Segway ST's interaction design is user-friendly, featuring adjustable speed modes, high and low beam lights for day and night travel, and a mobile app connectivity for monitoring vehicle conditions. Initiated in January 2022, the project is set to launch in August 2024, with a showcase at the CES exhibition in January 2024.

With multiple patents to its name, the Segway ST not only represents a leap in personal mobility design but also secures its place as an intellectual property. The Silver A' Design Award is a nod to the scooter's superior design and innovation, marking it as a top-tier product in the scooter design category and a harbinger of future urban transport solutions.
